Inaugural ranking cites excellence in clinical, customer performance
Newsweek ranks Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center among the World’s Best Hospitals in an inaugural ranking of thousands of hospitals around the globe. Newsweek engaged Statista, a global marketing and consumer research company, to process thousands of clinical and customer data points and conduct surveys among tens of thousands of health professionals to arrive at their conclusions.
Newsweek cites 226 U.S. hospitals for excellence in a variety of disciplines. Topping the list were the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic. Sentara Norfolk General was ranked 139th and Sentara Williamsburg was 149th.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital was cited for Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Memory Care, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, Pulmonology, Onology, Traumatology and Orthopedic and Spine Surgery.
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center was cited for Cardiology, Diabetes, General Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Palliative Care, Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Radiology and Traumatology, Orthopedic and Spine Surgery.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the regional Level I trauma center and the only comprehensive stroke center in eastern Virginia. It is a 525-bed academic teaching center partnered with Eastern Virginia Medical School and a tertiary and quaternary referral center along the Atlantic seaboard.
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is a Certified Primary Stroke Center with 145 licensed beds and serves the colonial capitol region with state-of-the-art technologies and the life-saving capabilities of an ultra-modern medical center.
