Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is ranked the No. 2 hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the top hospital in Hampton Roads, in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” edition.
Additionally, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital earned a Top 50 national ranking in Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) in conjunction with Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) and the Sentara Cancer Network.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital was also recognized for its several high-performing specialty programs, meaning they rank among the nation's top 10 percent:

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the Hampton Roads region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center and is home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.
U.S. News also ranked Sentara Leigh Hospital as the No. 2 hospital in Hampton Roads, and No. 14 in Virginia.
Ear, Nose & Throat program nationally ranked for the first time since 2015
The Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is ranked No. 43 in the nation due to the great partnership and collaboration with Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). Ear, Nose & Throat services include the Sentara-EVMS Skull Base Surgery Center, sinus surgery, voice disorders, hearing, and balance treatments, among many others. Additionally, the Sentara-EVMS Comprehensive Head and Neck Center focuses on head and neck surgery, using the first transoral robotic surgery in Virginia.

The Ear, Nose & Throat program is also part of the nationally accredited Sentara Cancer Network and treats patients with several different cancer types affecting those areas. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital received national rankings for ENT in 2014 and 2015.
