Meet Dr. Paul Lavigne, as he discusses his areas of focus, his path to medicine, his approach to patient care, and how the field of interventional cardiology is evolving.
My name is Paul Levine. I'm one of the interventional cardiologists here at Xero. My interest is in cardiovascular disease with a specific focus on prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease. I've always been drawn to science and had an interest in health. Uh The intersection of those two interests in the context of working with people to improve their lives was of considerable interest to me. I th I think a team approach um with the patient at the center of a conversation is tremendously important in delivering appropriate care. I like to make sure that we focus on education of the patient um in terms of whatever clinical pathology I'm seeing them for and work with them to tailor therapy to their needs. Yeah. So Tara has uh a long standing history of providing excellent clinical care and has uh a reputation for being uh leaders in the cardiovascular space, which is certainly uh quite appealing to a clinician. And then Hampton Roads is a wonderful place and community to raise a family and to live. I think the use of mechanical circulatory support for patients in cardiogenic shock has been of considerable interest and and recent uh clinical trials in literature as well as routine use of inter coronary imaging and physiology to guide um interventions in patients undergoing treatment for coronary artery disease.
