Hear from Howard Kern, President & CEO, Sentara Healthcare; Carolyn Carpenter, Corporate Vice President, Sentara Healthcare; and Joan Brock, Philanthropist & Cancer Survivor as they talk about what makes this state-of-the-art facility unique and their hopes for the positive impact it will have on the community.
today we have the opportunity to celebrate the naming of our cancer center. It absolutely signifies our commitment to compassionate and personalized care and our gratitude and the testament to a shared vision in this community for cancer, care of exceptional quality and outcome and exceptional compassion. We want to hunt a very important person and her family. Jean Brock. Her perspective as a grateful patient and the community supporter has been invaluable in making Sentara stronger on a better health system. Of course, I'm a grateful patient. Of course I care about this institute because you all have been there for us for the rocks. Now it's our time to pay back. We're a community people. We believe in the community. This is where we want the community to shine in this cancer care treatment center. This center will enable us to more easily engaged in and accelerate research so survivorship will continue to grow. It allows us to more directly and fully provide compassionate, personalized cancer care for the Hampton Roads community and the entire region, from diagnosis to unfortunately, in some cases, end of life in a healing and nurturing environment. It is not hyperbole to call this transformational. We certainly thank and express our measurable gratitude and words to Joan and her family for this incredibly generous donation. However, we will thank them and show our gratitude in a much greater way. By making this institution more than the beautiful brick and mortar structure that we see behind me today, it should and will reflect the hope, dedication, perseverance and survivorship that all patients will experience when they cross that threshold.
